Product description
Authorship / Al-Fayrouzabadi is the lexicon whose reputation spread everywhere, and its mention became widespread, to the point that the word "dictionary" almost replaced "lexicon" because many people considered them synonymous, due to its frequent use and wide dissemination. It has traveled across the horizons, and it is worthy of that, because it combines many advantages that have placed it in the position of imamate among lexicons, so it became relied upon and referenced. Among its features and merits are: its abundant materials and comprehensive scope, as it gathered in its pages what was scattered of language fragments, and included what was dispersed of its rare words, drawing from the well-structured and the vast, along with additional sources from various lexicons, totaling two thousand books of fine writings, resulting in sixty thousand entries.
Among its other merits are also: its good abbreviation, and perfect authorization, its unique method and meticulous approach in controlling the words, listing proper names, countries, and places, and accurately balancing and verifying them. Thus, it is considered both a lexicon and an encyclopedia of countries, of ambiguous proper names, comparable in that to books of ambiguous names of men. It also pays attention to mentioning the names of trees, plants, and medicinal herbs, explaining their benefits and characteristics, and listing many disease names, as well as various other names such as swords, horses, beasts, birds, days, and battles, as if he intended to make his lexicon an encyclopedia filled with different sciences and insights.
