Secrets of retirement and preparation for it

Author: Fatima Abduljabar Al-Otaibeen Book summary: In 1439 AH, I, along with my colleagues, applied for retirement, and we discovered at that time that we did not know the amount of the retirement pension or the end-of-service gratuity, which made me search and ask the payroll employee to understand how it is calculated. From here, the need arose for a reference that explains to the employee what they will receive after retirement. Several important questions arose for me about retirement, understanding whether the pension is sufficient, the employee’s readiness for life after work, and their future plans and goals. Therefore, I organized this book to answer these questions. First, I addressed the definition of retirement, how to calculate the pension and end-of-service gratuity, then I discussed the retiree’s lifestyle and the importance of early planning and setting a project or goal to invest their time. I also presented the role of the retirement institution and the services it provides, results of surveys of retired women, in addition to referring to the “Golden Handshake” decision in 2025 AD, which offered financial incentives for employees wishing to resign. At the end of the book, I offered advice for retirees and those about to retire, shared my experience in saving, investing, and starting a project after retirement, to serve as a brief guide to help the reader understand aspects of retirement life and benefit from it.
