Eye ointment Tobramycin 0.3% / Dexamethasone 0.1% What is the use of Tobramycin / Dexamethasone: This product is used to treat inflammatory eye problems that respond to corticosteroid treatment and coincide with superficial bacterial eye infections or where the risk of superficial bacterial eye infections is high. Do not use Tobramycin / Dexamethasone: if you have an allergy to Tobramycin or Dexamethasone or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Inform your doctor about any allergies and symptoms you have. If you are infected or think you are infected with an eye infection that does not respond to Tobramycin (such as viral infections caused by varicella viruses or vaccines or herpes simplex viruses and fungal infections and fungal infections). The use of corticosteroids on infected eyes that do not respond to this type of antibiotic may worsen the infection. Warnings and precautions: Stop using this medicine and talk to your doctor if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, rash, facial or neck swelling, low blood pressure, or dizziness. Your doctor should start appropriate treatment if this occurs. In acute suppurative problems and parasitic eye infections, corticosteroids may hide signs of infection or worsen existing infections. Talk to your doctor before starting Tobramycin / Dexamethasone if you wear soft contact lenses. This medicine is for topical eye use only and should not be injected into the eye. You may be allergic to this medicine. If this happens, stop using it. Prolonged use of this medicine may lead to overgrowth of resistant organisms, including fungi. In case of additional infection, your doctor should start appropriate treatment. Long-term use may also increase eye pressure and/or cause cataracts. Cross-allergy to other aminoglycoside antibiotics may occur (you may have allergic reactions to other aminoglycoside antibiotics if you have had similar reactions to aminoglycoside antibiotics). Do not wear contact lenses if you have signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis (such as eye discharge, redness, swelling, or itching). Talk to your doctor if your eye condition worsens or if you experience new symptoms. You may become more susceptible to infection when using this medicine. Consult your doctor before starting this medicine if you have a condition that may cause thinning of the eye tissues (such as rheumatoid arthritis or Fuchs' dystrophy or after corneal transplantation). Corticosteroid use may increase the risk of thinning of eye tissues, which could lead to perforation, and may also delay wound healing. Talk to your doctor before starting this medicine if you have diabetes (high blood glucose levels) as the risk of increased eye pressure caused by corticosteroids may be higher if you have diabetes. Talk to your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other visual problems. Your doctor should monitor your eye pressure regularly. The safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been established in children under two years old, and it is therefore not recommended for this age group. Possible side effects: Potential side effects include allergic symptoms, hypersensitivity, and local eye toxicity (such as eye discomfort, eyelid itching, swelling, and redness). Other side effects from the Dexamethasone component may include increased eye pressure with the risk of glaucoma (abnormally high eye pressure which may damage the optic nerve and cause vision problems), formation of posterior subcapsular cataracts (an eye problem that can cause reading vision impairment, halos around lights at night, and decreased vision in bright light), delayed wound healing, and secondary fungal infections. Other medications and Tobramycin / Dexamethasone: Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medications, including prescribed, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, supplements, and eye drops. If you use more than one eye drop solution, ensure each is used at least five minutes apart to avoid dilution. If you use an eye ointment, apply it last. How to use Tobramycin / Dexamethasone: Apply a small amount (1–1.5 cm) of the ointment into the conjunctival sac up to three or four times daily. The initial dose should not exceed 8 grams. Usage instructions: Use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Ask your doctor if you are unsure. Make sure the cap and tube are not broken before using the ointment.
