Product description

What is kaolin, pectin, and their use: Kaolin is a natural hydrated aluminum silicate, and pectin is a pure carbohydrate product from citrus fruit peels. Kaolin works by absorbing gases, toxins, and bacteria from the gastrointestinal tract and by increasing stool volume. Therefore, it is used in treating symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases associated with diarrhea. Pectin not only provides additional absorption power to kaolin but also has a coating effect on the intestines. Thus, combining the two is a simple, safe, and effective anti-diarrheal product that combines both the adsorptive and soothing properties essential for treating diarrhea. Do not take kaolin, pectin: allergy to kaolin and pectin, fever, or if there is blood or mucus in the stool. Warnings and precautions: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if diarrhea does not stop after a day or two or if you develop a fever. If you are taking any other medication, do not take it within 2 to 3 hours of taking kaolin and pectin. Taking medications together may prevent the body from absorbing the other medication. Possible side effects: No serious side effects of kaolin and pectin have been reported. However, kaolin and pectin may cause constipation in some patients, especially if taken in excess. Other medications and kaolin, pectin: inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Monitor for drug interactions with kaolin. Products containing aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of drugs and reduce their effectiveness in treating HIV infection. You should take the drug at least two hours before or six hours after taking kaolin.
