Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by a lack of insulin or its improper functioning, leading to high blood sugar levels. Types of diabetes: Type 1, where the pancreas produces no insulin at all. Type 2, where the pancreas produces an insufficient amount of insulin, or insulin stops working properly. Gestational diabetes is a temporary condition where the effectiveness of a woman's insulin decreases during pregnancy. Common symptoms of diabetes: Frequent urination. Excessive thirst. Intense hunger. Lack of attention and concentration. Tingling in the hands and feet. Slow wound healing. Non-drug treatments and tips for diabetics All carbohydrates affect blood sugar levels, so it is important to know which foods contain carbohydrates. Choose healthy foods that contain carbohydrates, and pay attention to your portion sizes. Reduce salt intake. Eating too much salt may increase your risk of high blood pressure, which in turn increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. When you have diabetes, you are already more susceptible to all these conditions. Eat more fruits and vegetables. This can help you get the vitamins, minerals, and fiber your body needs daily to stay healthy. You can always try low or zero-calorie sweeteners (also known as artificial sweeteners) to help reduce sugar intake, such as Stevia sweetener or Tropicana sweetener. Don’t forget to keep moving. Increased physical activity is closely linked to controlling blood sugar levels and eating healthy. Remember to regularly measure your blood sugar using a home blood glucose monitor. Thiozack capsules and Neurobion tablets help reduce diabetic neuropathy. If you experience symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as weakness, dizziness, increased sweating, rapid heartbeat, vision disturbances, or difficulty concentrating, it is usually helpful to consume a sugary drink. Normal levels Random blood sugar test: A blood sample will be taken at a random time. Regardless of when you last ate, a blood sugar level of 200 mg/dL or higher indicates diabetes. A level below 140 mg/dL is normal. A reading between 140 and 199 mg/dL indicates prediabetes. Fasting blood sugar test: A blood sample will be taken after a full night of fasting. Fasting blood sugar less than 100 mg/dL is normal. Fasting blood sugar between 100 and 125 mg/dL is considered prediabetes. If blood sugar level is 126 mg/dL or higher in two separate tests, you may have diabetes. Oral glucose tolerance test: In this test, you fast overnight, and blood sugar is measured during fasting. Then you drink a sugary liquid, and blood sugar is periodically measured over the next two hours.
