Reduces stomach acidity, relieves symptoms of heartburn, and is used in the following cases: duodenal ulcer (an ulcer that forms in the beginning of the small intestine), treatment of Helicobacter pylori bacteria (the bacteria that can live in your intestines and cause ulcers), to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers, benign gastric ulcer (a non-cancerous ulcer that forms in your stomach and increases stomach acid secretion), ulcer associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ulcers that form in your intestines due to excessive use of anti-inflammatory and non-steroidal painkillers), gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux also known as heartburn): acid reflux from the stomach to the esophagus (the food pipe) which may become inflamed and painful, and may cause symptoms such as chest pain reaching the throat and a sour taste in the mouth, erosive esophagitis (acid irritation that damages the esophagus): inflammation that may damage the tissues of the esophagus, the muscular tube that transports food from your mouth to your stomach, and can cause pain, difficulty swallowing, and chest pain, pathological hypersecretion conditions (digestive tract problems leading to increased acid secretion).
