Between Taha Hussein and his opponents

Product description

This book attempts to establish sound logical thinking principles and clear rhetorical communication rules that are suitable for the field of critical debate in literary issues, in its two aspects: proof and objection, with the aim of reaching a common ground through which constructive scientific dialogue can be achieved. The book takes the issue of plagiarism, as claimed by Taha Hussein in his well-known book "In Pre-Islamic Poetry," and the responses of the most famous opponents to it, as its field; trying to evaluate them in light of the theoretical foundations derived from the sciences of logic and debate, and from the systematic heritage of Muslim scholars in regulating the reception of news. Despite the argumentative nature to which the book is dedicated, it goes beyond influence and persuasion to a purely scientific matter and a higher moral goal, which is the pursuit of correctness, and the participation of both sides in the debate in reaching the correct or most probable opinion, and the conviction that the primary consideration is the evidence and proof alone, and to keep the critical debate away from imitation, mere argumentation, following whims, and other non-scientific goals.
