Between suspicion and fascination

Many around me like me were born after the era of the boom, and they harvested its fresh fruits, but they, in turn, were the generation most experienced with the generation of the awakening, so they shared them two overlapping and conflicting time circumstances in the present, the boom on one side and the awakening on the other, so much was stolen from them, and they lived like a palm tree that is meant to grow outside its soil, and a mix was made for them between modernities and what can be taken from them and what must be returned. My generation grew up and our awareness expanded, our readings diversified, and our minds opened, so we reconsidered the bad reputation that was planted in our minds about modern poetry, intentionally or unintentionally. We discovered the vast gap between the connoisseurs of this poetry, its students, and critics, some of whom are hesitant and reject it, and others are passionate and captivated by it, and some are fair and place it in its proper position, which aroused my curiosity to study the critical discourse of modern poetry in Saudi Arabia, so this book was.
