Product description

Product Overview & Specifications

The Speed TSH is a quantitative laser-induced fluorescence immunoassay designed to measure circulating Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in canine serum or plasma.

Target Species: Canine

  • Analyzer Requirement: Must be read exclusively using the Speed Reader analyzer (visual interpretation is not possible).
  • Dynamic Range: 0.1 ng/mL to 2.0 ng/mL
  • Approved Sample Types: Serum or Lithium Heparin plasma only.
  • Prohibited Samples: Whole blood or EDTA plasma.

Storage & Stability:

  • Refrigerated (2°C to 8°C): Samples remain stable for up to 7 days.
  • Frozen (-20°C): Store frozen for any samples kept beyond 7 days.
  • Pre-Test Conditioning: Allow samples, reagent tubes, and test devices to reach room temperature (18°C to 27°C) for at least 30 minutes before testing.

Maximum Interference Thresholds

No significant interference is observed up to the following concentrations:

Lipids: 20 g/L

Bilirubin: 500 µmol/L

Hemoglobin: 800 mg/L

Sample Handling & Pipetting Rules

Fibrin Caution: Fibrin strands can block pipette tips and lead to under-pipetting. If fibrin is present, re-centrifuge the sample.

Delay in Testing: If testing is delayed by more than 1 hour post-preparation, transfer the serum or plasma into a clean, dry tube.

Pipetting Best Practices:

Keep the pipette, sample tube, and reagents strictly vertical during pipetting.

Use a new disposable pipette tip for every test run.

Depress the plunger before inserting the tip into the sample; avoid touching the tube walls.

Submerge the tip in the liquid and release the plunger slowly.

Inspect the tip for air bubbles—if bubbles are present, discard the fluid and re-sample.

Step-by-Step Test Procedure

Important: Do not mix reagent tubes, test cartridges, or calibration chips from different kit lots.

1.Initialize Analyzer

Press New Test on the Speed Reader screen and follow the initial setup instructions.

2.Prepare Reagent Tube

Use the provided dropper tip to puncture the aluminum foil seal on the reagent tube to open it fully. Attach a fresh disposable tip to your pipette.

3.Transfer Sample & Mix

Pipette exactly 200 µL of sample into the open reagent tube.

Seal the tube tightly with the dropper cap and gently invert at least 5 times. Do not shake.

4. Flush Dropper Dead Space

Remove the plastic lid from the dropper cap. Invert the tube and discard the first 2 drops onto a tissue to purge air from the dropper nozzle.

5. Dispense Sample onto Cartridge

Pull out the test cartridge from the Speed Reader analyzer.

Holding the tube completely upright, dispense 2 drops directly into the sample well of the cartridge.

6. Insert & Read Results

When prompted by the screen, insert the test cartridge into the analyzer holder with the sample well entering first (following the directional arrow).

Complete any remaining on-screen prompts to read the quantitative result.

Interpretation of Results

Measurement Unit: TSH concentration is measured in ng/mL.

Clinical Context: TSH values must always be interpreted alongside Total T4 (TT4) levels and patient clinical signs to accurately evaluate canine thyroid function.
