Product description
Endo Explorer is a fine endodontic instrument used to explore and locate root canal orifices and examine the pulp chamber floor. Its thin, pointed tip allows the dentist to access grooves and small areas that may be difficult to see or reach, helping identify the canal pathway before beginning canal instrumentation.
Root Canal Orifices.
How to Use in Detail:
Access the pulp chamber: After preparing the access cavity and removing the chamber roof using an Endo-Z Bur, ensure clear visualization of the chamber floor.
Clean the chamber: Remove tissue remnants and debris from the pulp chamber so that the chamber floor can be clearly examined.
Hold the instrument: Hold the Endo Explorer like a pen using a light and controlled grip, allowing the dentist to detect subtle changes on the chamber floor.
Examine the chamber floor: Gently place the thin, pointed tip on the pulp chamber floor and examine the anatomical grooves and landmarks.
Locate the canal orifices: Gently move the tip along the developmental grooves and chamber floor to search for root canal orifices.
Identify the orifice: When a change in resistance or a small entry point is detected, examine the area carefully to confirm that it represents a root canal orifice.
Determine the canal direction: The explorer can help identify the initial direction of the canal without forcing the instrument into the canal.
Use a K-File: Once the canal orifice is identified, a small K-File, such as #08 or #10, can be used to explore the canal and confirm canal patency.
Check all expected orifices: Continue examining the chamber floor to identify all expected canal orifices according to the tooth anatomy.
Proceed with canal preparation: Once the orifices are located, proceed with working length determination, glide path establishment, cleaning, and shaping using the appropriate endodontic instruments.
How does the dentist benefit from it?
The Endo Explorer helps the dentist accurately locate root canal orifices, particularly when they are small or difficult to identify. It also provides valuable tactile feedback, helping the dentist detect grooves and changes in the pulp chamber floor, making canal location easier while minimizing unnecessary removal of tooth structure.
