Product description
Sectional Contouring Matrix Band and Wedge
Sectional Contouring Matrix Band and Wedge is a sectional matrix system commonly used for posterior dental restorations, especially Class II composite restorations. It consists of a sectional matrix band and a wedge, helping rebuild the proximal wall and create a natural and tight contact point with the adjacent tooth.
Matrix Band.
How to Use in Detail:
Select the appropriate matrix: The dentist selects the appropriate size and contour of the Sectional Matrix Band according to the tooth and restoration area.
Prepare the tooth: After caries removal and preparation of the Class II cavity, clean the cavity and properly control the working field.
Place the matrix band: The dentist inserts the Sectional Matrix Band interproximally between the tooth being restored and the adjacent tooth so that it covers the missing proximal wall.
Place the wedge: Insert the Wedge from the cervical area between the teeth. It stabilizes the matrix band, seals the gingival area, and helps prevent composite from extending beyond the cervical margin.
Check adaptation: Make sure the matrix band adapts closely to the tooth and that there is no significant gap between the matrix and the gingival margin.
Stabilize the matrix: A Separation Ring may be used with the system when available. It helps stabilize the matrix and provides slight tooth separation to compensate for the matrix thickness and help create a proper contact point.
Place the composite: The dentist places the composite into the cavity incrementally, beginning to rebuild the proximal wall against the matrix band.
Form the contact point: The pressure from the ring and wedge helps adapt the matrix band against the adjacent tooth, allowing the dentist to create an appropriate contact point.
Cure the composite: The composite is light-cured according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Remove the system: After completing the restoration and ensuring adequate curing, remove the ring if used, followed by the wedge and matrix band carefully.
Check and finish: The dentist checks the proximal contact and contour, removes any overhangs or excess material, and performs finishing and polishing when required.
How does the dentist benefit from it?
The Sectional Matrix Band and Wedge help the dentist achieve a better and more natural contact point in many Class II restorations compared with conventional matrix systems. They also help contain the composite, create an appropriate proximal wall, and reduce the risk of cervical overhangs.
