Desogestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol 150/30 micrograms What is Desogestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol and what are its indications: This medicine is a combined oral contraceptive ("the pill"). Take it to prevent pregnancy. These low-dose contraceptives contain two types of female sex hormones, estrogen and progestin. These hormones prevent the release of an egg from the ovaries so you do not become pregnant. It also makes the mucus in the cervix thicker, making it more difficult for sperm to enter the uterus. This pill is a 21-day pill - take one pill every day for 21 days, followed by 7 days when you do not take pills. Benefits of taking the pill include: • It is one of the most reliable reversible contraceptive methods if used correctly • Does not interrupt sexual activity • Usually makes the period regular, lighter, and less painful • May help treat premenstrual symptoms. Desogestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol will not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases, such as chlamydia or HIV. Only a condom can help do this. Take Desogestrel, Ethinyl Estradiol as directed to prevent pregnancy.
