Product description

Product description: Amlodipine contains the active substance amlodipine, which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers. Please note that the doctor may have prescribed the medicine for different uses and/or at a different dose than stated in the leaflet inside the package. Always follow your doctor's prescription as written on the pharmacy label. Amlodipine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or a special type of chest pain called angina, including a rare form called Prinzmetal or variant angina. In patients with high blood pressure, the medicine works by dilating the blood vessels, so blood passes through more easily. In patients with angina, amlodipine works by improving blood flow to the heart muscle, which then receives more oxygen to prevent chest pain. The medicine does not provide immediate relief for chest pain caused by angina. Usage instructions: Always use this medicine as your doctor or pharmacist told you. Contact a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. The recommended starting dose is 5 mg of amlodipine once daily. The dose can be increased to 10 mg of amlodipine once daily. The medicine can be taken before or after eating and drinking. This medicine should be taken at the same time each day with a glass of water. Do not take amlodipine with grapefruit juice. Use of amlodipine in children and adolescents. For children and adolescents (6-17 years): The usual recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg daily. The maximum recommended dose is 5 mg daily. It is important to take the tablets continuously. Do not wait to see your doctor until the tablets run out. If you take too much amlodipine: Contact a doctor or hospital or poison information. If you overdose or if the child accidentally takes the medicine. For other questions about the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Taking too many tablets can cause low blood pressure and even dangerously low blood pressure. You may feel dizziness, weakness, or fainting. If the blood pressure drops severely, shock may occur. You may feel cold and sweaty skin and lose consciousness. See a doctor immediately if you take too many amlodipine tablets. If you forget to take amlodipine: Do not worry. If you forget to take a tablet, you can leave it completely. Take the next dose on time. Do not take a double dose to replace the missed tablet. If you stop treatment with amlodipine: Your doctor will tell you how long to take this medicine. Your condition may return if you stop taking the medicine before being advised to do so. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about using this medicine.
