The European colonial conflict was intense at the beginning of the 19th century, and the eyes of the colonizers were watching the Moroccan empire, so Italy wanted to enter this heated conflict...; Italy made a decision to explore the Moroccan empire, gauge the government there, and gather intelligence on politics, trade, culture, and society.
This mission was entrusted to the ambassador captain: Stefano Scovasso, who chose his team members, and suggested that journalist Edmondo Amichez accompany him on this journey, along with two Italian painters: Stefano Osi and Cezar Pessio.
Amichez's sole task was to record the events of this journey, and he did so, resulting in this book, which gained wide fame, good acceptance, was reprinted multiple times, and translated into French, English, and Spanish.
Undoubtedly, the book is an engaging and useful contribution in its field, and the author's language is descriptive and literary par excellence.
