Product description

Thirteen years after the disappearance of Marie Gesto in mysterious circumstances, in which the hypothesis of death was likely, Detective Harry Bosch was searching for the supposed culprit to know the fate of the girl, or at least to retrieve her remains. The killer appeared, after he found two dismembered women’s remains in his car, and after the Public Prosecution requested the death penalty for him, his lawyer offered to replace the death penalty with life imprisonment in exchange for him telling the police about eleven crimes, including the murder of Marie Gesto. There we face the first moral dilemma in the novel. The penalty for killing two women is death, but confessing to killing eleven victims is punishable by life imprisonment, but the dilemmas continue and doubts of Harry Bosch affect everyone from the Attorney General to the Assistant Investigator, and the circle of suspicions of the seasoned investigator expands to include an old suspect. That blood is shed and the lives of investigators are lost, and this is what distorts the course of the investigation more than once.
