Five You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom

"The story you are going to read is nothing but a guess, a wish, in some way, that people who did not feel important here in this life would realize how important they were and how much they were loved."

Eddie feels himself a prisoner in a meaningless life, fixing rides at an oceanfront amusement park, and spending his days in a boring routine of work, loneliness, and heartbreak. On his eighty-third birthday, he meets his death in a tragic accident, and awakens in the afterlife, where he discovers that heaven is not what he imagined it to be, but rather a place where five people who were in your life meet you, to explain to you crucial things that you did not realize at the time.
