Publisher: Difaf Publications Number of pages: 344 This novel tells the stories of characters belonging to different countries, cultures, and customs, and the lives of these characters revolve in the second half of the nineteenth century up to the twenty-first century. All these characters meet in Amman, which, in the author's view, forms the center of the narrative in the events of this work; in Amman, Juman Badran, a Syrian girl originally from Raqqa, meets Nasser Al-Amer, a young Palestinian man who came to Amman to bury his Syrian mother who passed away in Jordan. Juman and Nasser discover the neighborhood relationship that once united their grandparents' houses in Aleppo. This neighborhood forms a shared past between Juman and Nasser, which transforms into a fully developed love. The novel, through this relationship, tells the tragedy of families in Syria, Palestine, Iraq, and Vietnam, and delves into the issue of turning wars into identity and a principle they defend, which increases their cause. It explains how these wars affect people's destinies, narrates their tragedies, and shifts from a collective tragedy with negative consequences for all people to negative outcomes that strike individuals personally and deeply.
