Kamelia was six years old when the supporters of Khomeini overthrew Shah of Iran in 1979. Her family chose to stay in Tehran, although some of its members disappeared at the hands of Khomeini's forces. While she was writing for the reformist newspaper "Zan," Kamelia was imprisoned on charges of threatening national security and challenging the Islamic regime. After months of solitary confinement and daily interrogations, she confessed to crimes she did not commit, even admitting that she had fallen in love with her savage interrogator, just to save herself. After her release from prison, Kamelia had to struggle again to regain her freedom and find a way out of the grip of the man with whom she shared secrets that could harm her.
