In her novel "Forgive Me for Your Sins," the author Arij Al-Tayeb presented a high artistic example of the ability of literature to transform even the most abstract and romantic concepts into a vivid reality, and we mean the concept of love. She does this based on tangible experience and small details that are not exhausted by analysis but are embodied through real living of the experience, away from others' perceptions of it in reality. This can only be achieved by a writer with broad artistic ability who hides behind the subject, not in it... as she often surprises us between the lines with a beautiful philosophy about love and its lovers... which in the novel has become a more familiar and delicate reality in dealing with the inputs of each case in its various aspects.
In the narrative discourse, Arij Al-Tayeb uses the concept of poeticism in the novel as a tool for narration, which is equivalent in importance to the narrative performance at the language level, with a free flow that turns the entire story into a collection of stories told and narrated through poetic segments, with the author’s arrangement of events and incidents, and employing the main active characters in the text. The novel presents the lives of three girls and their experiences with love and marriage: the first believes in love until the end and is devoted to it; the second lives it as a reality constrained by society and religion; and the last admits that love changes with changing circumstances and believes in the necessity of seeking new love.
From the atmosphere of the novel, we read a text titled "Truths of Pain": "The hardest thing possible... is to get used to pain... to make pain normal... to cry while saying: How long will this pain that repeats endlessly continue... that there is one wound... in one place... bleeding... then seeming to heal... then being triggered again and bleeding anew... Sometimes, with intense pain on a specific wound, we feel no pain at all... as if the area of pain has become completely numb... The harshest thing possible: to take a deep breath and then exhale the air as if part of your soul is dying... and you are alone."
