About the book:
Laws and legislation in general aim to organize relationships in society to ensure stability and establish balance between the parties of each relationship, guaranteeing the implementation of what the legislator has decided to punish those who violate the provisions of these laws, which represent the public order of society. Regarding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the law is based on the rulings of Islamic Sharia, which is a creed, methodology, and life. The government issues legislations in the form of systems derived from the roots or general principles of Islamic Sharia. Courts of various levels are considered the general judiciary in the Kingdom and are competent to decide in all cases except those excluded by law. Sharia courts hear disputes arising from civil, personal status, or criminal matters of all kinds.
This book contains four chapters. The first chapter introduces the concept of law, clarifies its truths, and distinguishes it from other social rules, in addition to discussing the function and basis of law. The second chapter divides law into general and private, determines the criterion for differentiating between public law and private law, and also discusses the division of legal rules based on their binding force. The third chapter reviews the sources of law, represented by the primary sources of legislation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other sources of law in the Kingdom. The fourth chapter discusses the application and interpretation of law in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with clarifying the general principles of the judiciary and the formation of the judiciary in the Kingdom.
