Social service in the medical field
Dr. Bahjat Mohamed Roshwan
The book consists of eight chapters, where the author believed that the social worker in the medical field must first be aware of the historical stages that social activities have gone through, from being driven by the desire to do good to becoming a professional activity based on scientific and professional foundations, whether this development occurred abroad or in the Arab Republic of Egypt. This was discussed in the first chapter.
Logically, the social worker cannot practice their work without being aware of the nature of the profession and the activity they perform, its characteristics, and goals. This was covered in the second chapter.
The third chapter explained the foundations and components that contribute to the success of practicing social service in the medical field.
Then, the fourth chapter clarified who the practitioner of this profession is, along with their qualities and roles in the medical field.
As for the fifth chapter, it explained the medical institution, its types, its location, and the position of the medical social service department within the medical institution.
The sixth chapter was about preventive social work, its definition, goals, and elements.
The seventh chapter discussed the cost of health services for individuals and society, and whether medical social service is an investment profession.
The second part of the book was an applied attempt at medical social service in the medical field, and although this applied effort was through scientific research, the researcher made sure that one of these studies focused on the patient, which was in the eighth chapter, and the second was about the patient's family, which was in the ninth chapter.
