Guidance on Developmental Stages Dr. Ahmed Abdul Latif Abu Asaad Recently, guidance has developed from what it was in the past, where specialization in guidance has begun to appear, including marital and family guidance, vocational guidance, educational guidance, and guidance for developmental stages, in which the counselor provides service to individuals based on developmental demands, age stage, characteristics of the stage, and its problems. The appropriate guidance method at one age period may not be suitable at another; for example, exclusion is not used with young children, nor is irrational thinking change used with young children and mentally disabled individuals. From here, this book came with all its information to benefit both psychological, educational, and student counselors, whether dealing with students at school, couples in the family, employees at work, or even the elderly after retirement and reaching old age. It also benefits teachers by understanding the developmental stage, and thus reflecting on how to deal with students at school and university. Additionally, it benefits all parents in knowing how to deal with their children appropriately for their age stage. This book, with its chapters organized in a gradual manner from pregnancy to old age, allows the reader to focus on a specific age stage, concentrating on the guidance services provided therein, the nature of the demands expected to be met at that stage, and the problems that may confront the individual during that period. It is a comprehensive and modern book on developmental stages, noting the scarcity of titles with this focus in the Arab world, despite the importance and need for such a book. Therefore, I decided to write on this topic, hopeful that it will offer a new service to the reader and add valuable and useful material to the Arab library. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who wrote on this subject and whom I benefited from greatly in producing this current version of the book, and to everyone who encouraged me to write on this valuable topic.
