The book aims to enhance understanding of some details and production-specific terms, especially technical ones, within a contemporary practical context, particularly concerning the stages of production and their nature as an editorial process through form, the dialectical relationship between form and content, and everything related to how to implement these stages, tools, and modern methods associated with the implementation process, based on scientific, theoretical, and practical foundations that keep pace with recent developments on the ground. The book consists of seven chapters, where the first chapter explains: the concept of production, its function, and its determinants, and defines the types of printing elements and related decisions. The second chapter clarifies the stages of journalistic production and all related terms, scientific, technical, and practical foundations, as well as the publishing technology used in each stage and its mechanisms, the role of editorial secretariat in the production stages, the tasks of the editorial board, and the types of directives in journalistic institutions related to the production process. The fourth chapter explains the most modern principles and practical steps for producing the front page of the newspaper and the magazine cover, their sections, and the controls for distributing printing elements on each, considering their importance and the particularity of each. It also presents models and forms for magazine covers and pages. The fifth chapter offers an explanation of journalistic image production methods, types, and the steps for its editorial treatment, considering its importance and functions. It also discusses image sources, the role of color in production, and the modern digital processing it undergoes. The sixth chapter explains the production of advertisements and internal editorial material in newspapers and magazines, clarifying the approved methods for producing advertisements and the main rules for their production. It also includes an explanation of the nature of investigative journalism production, religious pages, economic and financial pages, sports pages, entertainment pages, and general editorial material production methods. The seventh and final chapter reviews the most prominent schools of journalistic production, including traditional, moderate, modern, and the most recent approaches, and clarifies the characteristics of the different doctrines followed by each school or production style. We hope that the specialized reader, journalism and media students, and those working in the journalistic production profession will find what meets their basic needs in this book, which combines theoretical foundations with practical and applied aspects. Several specialists from the departments of technical production and printing departments at the "Al-Ghad" and "Al-Dustour" newspapers were consulted to shed light on these aspects.
