1. Shut off the electric power to the water heater.

2. Remove the access panel and fold back the insulation.

3. Remove the personal protective cover over the thermostat.

4. Disconnect the wires from the thermostat and slide it out.

5. Put the new thermostat in the bracket and make sure it's firmly against the tank.

6. Attach the wires to the new thermostat and replace the cover.

7. Fold the insulation back over the thermostat and replace the access panel.

8. Turn on the power

HAZARD OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK! Before removing any access panels or servicing the water heater, make sure the electrical supply to the water heater is turned 'OFF'. Failure to do this could result in 'DEATH, SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE'.
