Product description
Vapogen 20% SC is a specialized insecticide containing chlorantraniliprole 20%. It controls an important group of fruit worms, leaf worms and cutworms on vegetables, field crops, fruit trees, citrus and grapes. The active ingredient acts on the ryanodine receptors in insect muscles, disrupting calcium regulation so the larva stops feeding, then becomes paralyzed and dies. It stops feeding quickly, which helps limit new damage to leaves and fruits after treatment. It works by ingestion and contact, and performs best when young larvae are targeted at the start of infestation, before they enter fruits or plant tissues. It belongs to Group 28, which makes it suitable for resistance management programs when rotated with different groups.
Key Features
- Chlorantraniliprole acts on ryanodine receptors, disrupting calcium regulation in larval muscles and causing paralysis and death.
- Rapid feeding stop after exposure, reducing continued chewing and damage to leaves and fruits.
- High efficacy on lepidopteran larvae, which include many economically important leaf and fruit worms.
- Works by ingestion and contact: larvae are exposed while feeding on or touching treated parts.
- High efficiency on newly hatched and young larvae before they enter fruits or hide inside tissues.
- Belongs to IRAC Group 28, with a mode of action different from many conventional insecticides, making it valuable in resistance management.

Precautions
- Apply at the start of egg hatch when young larvae appear; control becomes harder once larvae enter fruits or hide inside tissues.
- Do not raise the dose in heavy infestations; improve spray coverage and adjust timing to the infestation level instead.
- Avoid using Group 28 insecticides in consecutive sprays; rotate with different groups to help delay resistance.
- Direct the spray to new growth, fruits and the parts larvae feed on, with uniform coverage.
- Avoid spraying in strong wind or high heat, and keep the spray solution away from water sources.
- When mixing with another pesticide or foliar fertilizer, run a compatibility test on a small quantity before preparing the full tank.
🌿 Orkida Tip
When controlling fruit worms, do not wait for holes to appear in the fruit; once a larva is inside, the spray can hardly reach it. Watch for the start of hatching and target larvae while they are small, focusing coverage on new growth, fruits and egg-laying sites. After treatment, look for chewing to stop and no new damage rather than only dead larvae, because chlorantraniliprole stops feeding quickly before the larvae fully die.
