The author Muhammad Hashemkan Othman bin Mughallal from the most diligent people in worship, he fasts during the day and prays at night, avoids desires, and isolates himself from women, and asked the Prophet Muhammad for permission to dedicate himself to worship and celibacy, so he forbade him from that, and the Prophet said to him: "Is there not in me a good example for you? I marry women, eat meat, fast and break my fast. The celibacy of my nation is fasting, and there is no one from my nation who isolates himself or is celibate." Othman bin Mughallal is the father of Al-Saib, Othman bin Mughallal bin Habib bin Wahb bin Hadhafa bin Jamh bin Amr bin Haysis Al-Qurashi, Al-Jumahi, and his mother is Sakhila bint Al-‘Anbas Al-Jumahiya. A noble, righteous companion, very devout, dedicated to worship, fasting, and known for asceticism, and he had poetry. In pre-Islamic times, he was among the wise Arabs, and he forbade himself from wine, saying: "I do not drink a beverage that makes me lose my mind." He laughs at those who are lower than him, and he is compelled to marry those he does not love. He was among the first to embrace Islam, migrated to Abyssinia in the first migration, then migrated to Medina, and participated in the Battle of Badr. He narrated some hadiths from the Prophet, peace be upon him, and many people narrated from him. The Prophet, peace be upon him, loved him very much, and he was brothered with Abu Al-Haytham bin Al-Tayhan Al-Ansari. He died in Medina during Dhu al-Hijjah, or in Sha'ban in the second year of migration, so he was the first migrant to die in Medina, and he was buried in Al-Baqi, making him the first to be buried there, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, was very grief-stricken over his death. The Glorious Quran and Othman bin Mughallal gathered with a group of Muslims in his house and decided to fast, pray, not sleep on beds, and not eat meat or approach women or perfume, and other things that Allah permitted. The Prophet, peace be upon him, heard about this and rebuked them and forbade them from abandoning the worldly pleasures and delights that Allah had made lawful, so verse 87 of Surah Al-Ma'idah was revealed about him and his group: "O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful for you..." It is said that the reason for the revelation of this verse was the coming of his wife, Hulwah bint Abi Umayyah, to Aisha bint Abi Bakr, and she was a young, beautiful woman. Aisha said to her: "Why do I see you disabled?" She replied: "And for whom should I adorn myself?" By Allah! My husband has not approached me for so-and-so time, as he has become ascetic, wearing rough clothing, and has turned away from the world. Aisha informed the Prophet, peace be upon him, of her husband's wife's news, and then that verse was revealed about him. And verse 93 of the same surah was also revealed: "There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have eaten, when they fear Allah and believe..."
