Product description

The Book of Insights and Treasures: It is a large book authored by Al-Tawhidi, as Yaqut says, in ten parts, each part has an introduction and conclusion, and he divided it into nine parts. It is the fruit of fifteen years of work, extending between 350 AH and 365 AH. The book has been known by different names; sometimes it is called Insights and Treasures, or Insights and Rare Items, and other times it is called Insights of the Ancients and Secrets of the Wise and Thoughts of the Eloquent, and at times, News of the Ancients and Treasures of the Wise, as mentioned in Ghurar Al-Khasais by Al-Wattwat. Another time, it is called Insights according to Yaqut Al-Rumi and Al-Usnawi, the author of the Biographies of the Shafi'is, and according to Al-Tawhidi himself, in the flaws of the two ministers. This book is the fruit of Al-Tawhidi's readings, observations, and hearings. He mentioned in the introduction of his book the main sources he relied on in its compilation. These include, in addition to the works of Al-Jahiz, the main well-known books such as "Al-Nawadir" by Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ziyad Al-Arabi, "Al-Kamil" by Al-Mubarrad, "The Eyes of News" by Ibn Qutaybah, "The Sessions of Thalab," "The Versed and the Prose" by Ibn Abi Tahir, "The Papers" by Al-Suli, "The Ministers" by Ibn Abdulwus, and "Animals" by Qudama. This, apart from the Quran and Sunnah. There is no doubt that Al-Tawhidi chose and recorded what he did driven by his taste, preference, mood, traditional religious culture, and his philosophical school of Mutazila. The Book of Insights and Treasures consists of 10 parts in 6 volumes. The Book of Insights and Treasures 6/1 Author: Abu Hayyan Al-Tawhidi Reviewed by Widad Al-Qadi
