Book of Major Sins | Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab | Saleh bin Fawzan bin Abdullah Al-Fawzan
Many books have been written on the topic of major sins, and among the most prominent is the book in our hands and the book of major sins by Imam Zajjaj. Al-Dhahabi Al-Dhahabi has also written in his book "Fariq" about committing major sins. Major sins include great sins such as disbelief in Allah or associating partners with Him, which are only forgiven before the approaching death. Among them are lesser sins like shirk. According to Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, these sins cause one to become a fasiq (failing in obedience) and diminish faith, but do not make one a kafir (disbeliever). Therefore, it is judged that the person is a fasiq or has deficient faith, but not a kafir. Some sins are ranked by Allah as certain sins like increasing theft, drinking alcohol, intentional killing, aggression, and others. Imposing the hudood (Islamic punishments) on them indicates that they are not disbelief but major sins and all worldly punishments are applied to them. They have maximum limits but are not necessarily punishable in the Hereafter unless they are among the acts that invalidate faith. However, acts that expel from Islam are punished in this world, and no further punishment is applied to them in the Hereafter.
