Recently published book "Issues of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal from narration of Muhammad ibn Mahan al-Nisaburi" (died 284 AH), verification: Prof. "Abdul Salam bin Muhammad Al-Shuwaeir", teacher at the Two Holy Mosques, published by "Dar Rakeez for Publishing and Distribution". This book includes the issues of Imam Ahmad in jurisprudence, where his legal opinions remained through the issues of his students narrating to him, and those students are of various classes and ranks; few and many, sound and weak, accepted and rejected. Among the most prominent is Muhammad ibn Mahan al-Nisaburi, who accompanied Imam Ahmad for more than twelve years, and those narrations are scattered in their sources. The verifier collected them from well-known books in the madhhab such as the jurisprudential issues from the Book of the Two Narrations and the Two Ways of Abu Ya'la, and the Classes of Hanbalis by Ibn Abi Ya'la, and Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudama, and Al-Muharrar in jurisprudence by Ibn Taimiya al-Jadd, and Al-Furu' by Ibn Muflih al-Kabir, and Al-Mubdi' Sharh Al-Muqni' by Ibn Muflih Al-Saghir, and Al-Qawa'id by Ibn Rabi', and Al-Insaaf by Al-Mardawi, among others. The owner of those issues is Muhammad ibn Mahan al-Nisaburi as-Samsar, related to buying and selling, as he was a merchant or traded after acquiring knowledge. May Allah have mercy on him, he was among the prominent companions of Ahmad and their virtuous, praised by Ibn Abi Ya'la, and Ibn Muflih, and others. He accompanied him long ago; he mentioned in one of his issues that he asked Imam Ahmad in the year 129 AH, twelve years before his death. Descriptions of Al-Nabulsi and Ibn Muflih about him as being of great stature, and his issues with Ahmad are what he asked about sometimes, and what he heard and Imam asked about sometimes, as he said in some: I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and in others: Ahmad was asked and I was listening, and other issues unrelated to a question from a questioner, and he sometimes discussed with him in his answer, indicating his constant companionship and his passion for memorizing Imam Ahmad's issues. Ibn Abi Ya'la described his issues as good, saying: he has good issues. Both Ibn Abi Ya'la, Al-Nabulsi, and Ibn Muflih transmitted those issues without comment, and no one from the imams of Hanbali criticized any of them, so he is among the trustworthy transmitters of Imam Ahmad's issues from him. He narrated issues of Ahmad from his student Abu Ibrahim Ismail ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Harith al-Qattan, who took from him, and he took from him in the year 249 AH. Ibn Mahan died in the year 284 AH, thirty-four years after Imam Ahmad's death. The total issues he recorded are about nineteen, and Sheikh "Bakr Abu Zaid" mentioned in "The Detailed Introduction" that he has many issues, and these issues are not in one chapter or specific chapters in jurisprudence, but they varied in acts of worship, transactions, marriages, and crimes, covering all four quarters of jurisprudence. These issues testify that Ibn Mahan is among the people of jurisprudence and one of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal's clever students, not just a narrator who transmits what he heard, but a jurist narrator. The verifier collected those issues, with a precise illustration of the issue before stating its ruling to clarify the purpose of studying it. If the issue is a matter of consensus, its ruling is mentioned with its evidence; if it is a matter of disagreement, the point of dispute is clarified along with the different opinions and who said them from the scholars, presenting the disagreement according to the jurisprudential trends. The statements are documented from their original sources, and a comparison is made between the accepted jurisprudential schools in the disputed issues, with an exhaustive presentation of the evidence for each opinion and its indication. The verifier relied on primary sources, original references, in editing, documentation, derivation, and collection, avoiding stray opinions. The verifier is Sheikh Abdul Salam bin Muhammad bin Saad Al-Shuwaeir. Title: Issues of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal from narration of Muhammad Mahan al-Nisaburi. Author: Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal.
