Hatem Ali Gharam Al-Shihri The precious pearl in the pleasure of companionship All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds, Creator of everything, Who guides whom He wills to a straight path. We praise the best praise for our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the seal of prophets and messengers. He was given comprehensive speech, and Allah endowed him with the most complete eloquence and clearest expression. Before this book: The precious pearl in the pleasure of companionship, there is a collection that carries within it a facet of literary prose and poetry, as well as a facet of wisdom, events, and history. It thus offers a pleasant enjoyment for those who sit with the book, becoming a companion to its reader, entertaining its study, and rich in its benefits. There is no doubt that the author exerted considerable effort, which is praiseworthy, through his extensive references and sources, and the collection of information that reveals good taste, a sense of literary beauty, sound thinking, and a spiritual faith. With this, he presented the Arab reader with many benefits, reminders, and diverse, rich nourishment. Such books are a necessity for us in our good, our reality as Muslims today. Besides providing nourishment, entertainment, and reminders, they also contribute to preserving the Arabic language in its authenticity, quality, and integrity—our complete identity and values. It is worth mentioning here that since the divine revelation was sent down to Muhammad, peace be upon him, the Arabic language has not been confined to a particular tribe or only to the Arabs. Rather, it became the language chosen by Allah for His religion and His message. It became the language of the Book, the revelation, and prophecy, and has remained the language of Islam and Muslims throughout all times. However, many today have abandoned the Arabic language due to the weakness and backwardness that befell Muslims, and the significant decline in faith and adherence to Allah’s methodology—Qur’an, Sunnah, and the Arabic language. They have also been heavily drawn to worldly life and its adornments, neglecting turning to Allah and striving for the hereafter. Thus, the decline of the Muslims’ status on earth has increased. Every effort that provides a spark of faith and monotheism, and promotes knowledge of the Arabic language and its use in various fields, is a source of strength for the nation, a push for the message of its Lord, its dissemination, and its power. The references and sources for such pearls are abundant in the nation of Islam. The writer can return to them to provide readers with the best and most valuable content they contain, and continue to support the readers indefinitely. Therefore, I advise my dear brother to make this book the “Part One,” followed by another book with the same title as “Part Two.” May Allah reward brother Hatem bin Ali Gharam Al-Shihri for what he has presented, bless him, and benefit through him.
