The Assistance in Jurisprudential Rules 1-5 by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Owaid.
Knowledge of jurisprudential rules is among the most foundational sciences, the highest in status and mention, as it is from the sciences of foundational principles that unlock the secrets of jurisprudence and branches. It also takes the reins of all Sharia rulings, so that with the regulation of these rules, one can pursue sincere ijtihad, and open horizons for consideration and comparison based on the principles established by scholars from the roots of Sharia.
It was my ambition in serving the science of jurisprudential rules to author a book in which I study the most important jurisprudential rules, in a comprehensive manner, especially focusing on aspects that I saw needed more scientific attention.
I carried a scientific concern in jurisprudential rules regarding their formulations, terminology, and evidences, by extrapolating — as much as possible — from the evidence of the Book and Sunnah, and using the interpretations and explanations of scholars. I paid attention to the scope of applying the rule and its conditions, as well as its applications, not only from books of rules but also from Tafsir, explanations of the Sunnah, and books of jurisprudence according to the four schools, especially the main books of each school.
This book — by the grace of Allah Almighty and His favor — is an attempt to write it with a scientific methodology that I have adopted in studying each jurisprudential rule.
In this book, I presented the five major general rules, followed each with the most important rules branching from them, the most important restrictive rules, and the most important specific rules as well.
I also presented the general rules similarly to how I presented the major general rules.
Additionally, I discussed a selection of minor jurisprudential rules; it is difficult to encompass them all, but I chose from them what I saw — according to my effort — as the most important and most commonly used in applied jurisprudence.
