This study focused on two aspects: the first is the foundational aspect, which involves clarifying this term, explaining its concept, exploring its usage among jurists, tracking its various definitions, and identifying its types, as well as monitoring the reasons for errors and mistakes in legal statements. The second is the applied aspect, which involves collecting and studying the most important legal opinions in the Islamic heritage that have been judged as wrong, and presenting the judgments of the verified jurists regarding this. The study concluded with several findings, the most prominent of which are: the importance of understanding the critical terms used by jurists, and the researcher’s definition of "incorrect statement" as: an Islamic legal opinion that is contrary to correctness, which cannot be validated or considered valid due to a clear or hidden defect. It also concluded that judging something as wrong is the responsibility of the critical jurists, and that human actions are subject to judgment of error. The researcher identified various types of incorrect statements based on multiple considerations: based on the source of the statement, its attribution to the one who said it, its narration, tracking the correction of errors, and the researcher pointed out the sources of incorrect statements according to jurists, legal issues, and books. The study also identified the main reasons for falling into legal error, which can be apparent or hidden. The study recommended the importance of critical studies in Islamic jurisprudence following the approach of verified jurists, and emphasized that scientific bodies should fulfill their duty in confronting false opinions in the present era and clarifying their falsehood through the verified statements of scholars and jurists.
