The explanation of Al-Azayt, authored by: The Imam, the distinguished grammarian and linguist Abdul Wahhab bin Ibrahim Al-Khuzraji Al-Zanjani Al-Shafi’i (d. 655 AH). It is being printed and published for the first time, verified from eleven manuscript copies.
Introduction to the book:
It is one of the most important morphology texts that scholars have paid attention to teaching and reciting; due to its ease of presentation, good organization, and arrangement. Moreover, it contains many examples and well-constructed sentences, with numerous explanations and annotations clarifying its meanings.
Its author, the distinguished scholar Al-Luzai’i, the Imam of Al-Zanjani, may Allah have mercy on him, covered the most essential chapters of morphology, without neglecting any chapter as was the case with some other texts in this field. Morphology is not among the sciences that are difficult; rather, scholars have aimed to facilitate and simplify it.
As the expert grammarian and morphologist Ibn Asfur said about it: "Morphology is the noblest and most intricate part of Arabic. Its nobility is evident in the fact that all those engaged with the Arabic language—grammarians and linguists alike—are in great need of it, as it is the measure of Arabic. Do you not see that a large part of the language can be derived by analogy? And nothing leads to that except through morphology..." and so on.
Today, there is a need for more attention to delicate morphology books; as those who claim difficulty and complain about poor printing have increased, fulfilling urgent needs has become one of the essential duties. This places a great trust on specialists in knowledge and printing.
The book, despite its modest size, is proof of the author's deep mastery of the language of the Qur'an, as he is a knowledgeable scholar of Arabic from whom much benefit can be gained. Any teacher who has attempted to recite it has seen the precision of its phrasing that amazes the mind, and has sought its explanations—some of which have been carefully prepared in the house—extending the search and completing the benefits of the lesson.
Just as a book that has been passed from hand to hand for a century, with scholars praising it and speaking highly of its issues and branches.
Our edition relied on more than ten manuscript copies, thoroughly checked and annotated with punctuation marks essential for the reader of morphology, with appropriate comments.
And Allah is the grantor of success.
