Badr Mohammed Eid Al-Hussein Introduction The story is a type of tale, and an art form of refined literary arts. It has been known among Arabs and others since ancient times as the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, the stories of Zīr Salim, Abu Zaid Al-Hilali, Kahlila and Dimna, Hayy ibn Yaqzan, and others. The story is part of the narrative, and a component of its elements. It is based on one or several events, and may be founded on the art of storytelling. - And from the techniques of storytelling in the old tale is that it begins with phrases like: "Once upon a time" — "It is said that there was" — "Once, one day" — and similar expressions. The story has a significant presence among children; they are fully engaged with it, immersed in its events, sympathetic with its good characters, and eager to see what will happen next. Perhaps they imagine themselves momentarily as part of it. Through stories, the writer can instill noble values and beloved virtues in the hearts of children through his expressive craft, gentle language, exciting ideas, and influential style, in addition to the thrilling events on which the story is built. Stories have a great impact on both adults and children, but they are especially influential on children; during childhood, conscience and moral awareness are shaped, attitudes grow, and personality develops. The storyteller plays a role in influencing children by skillfully using his voice tone, gestures, facial expressions, as well as the warmth and sincere feelings he embeds within the story, which seep into the minds of the listeners and infiltrate their souls smoothly. Stories for bedtime I present these stories as a helpful reference for every father and mother, every teacher, and every student; because they will find in them entertainment, amusement, and benefit, God willing. The events of the stories take place in various environments that children love: such as school, forest, river, sea, mountain, and desert. Some of them are symbolically narrated by animals beloved by children: such as birds, rabbits, bears, sheep, and gazelles. I have chosen many places around the world as settings for the stories to diversify and educate the young. We hope the reader understands that each story develops a value, corrects a behavior, or establishes a principle of goodness and righteousness. I have narrated these stories to my young children, and they enjoyed them. I noticed their influence and interaction reflected in their behavior and conduct. Therefore, I hope all children of the nation will benefit from these stories, and the impact will be greater and the benefit more certain when these stories are accompanied by suggestive, expressive, and attractive illustrations, and published in printed form or as television series.
