Basics in general education curricula

The Arab Prophet, unlettered, more eloquent than those who speak with the letter "Dhad," taught mankind and brought them out of darkness into light after placing them on the correct path so they can be lamps of guidance for the entire world throughout ages and eras. Education is a science we have learned and taught; it concerns building generations and making humans capable of constructing their lives properly, according to a clear goal. As for the curriculum, it is a written, approved plan for learning and knowledge, a scientific and practical translation of the objectives of education and learning, its plans, directions, and methods in every society. It helps all those working in the field of education and teaching to achieve the desired goals. This is a collection of lectures we delivered to students of the College of Teachers in Dammam, according to the approved plan of the ministry. We decided to include these lectures within the pages of this book, hoping they may assist and benefit our sons and daughters, students of colleges and universities, in achieving their hoped-for goals. We all aspire to achieve them, in accordance with the saying of the truth: "Man only knows what he learns" [Al-'Alaq: 5]. We ask Allah, the Almighty, to benefit us with what He has taught us, to teach us what benefits us, and to open for us the doors of His vast knowledge. Our last supplication is: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the best of messengers. The Authors
