Introduction
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon the noblest of His creation, the trustworthy Arab Prophet.
Afterward; my connection with the book Al-Majeed in the parsing of the Noble Qur'an by al-Safaqsi dates back to my days studying at the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University thirty-five years ago, when I documented the investigation of this book and studied it as a subject for my doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hussein Nassar, may Allah preserve him, after many hesitated to delve into it due to its size, numerous references, and scattered manuscript copies.
Then Allah willed that I leave Cairo University and transfer to the Faculty of Arts at the University of Baghdad. The Arabic Department there insisted on changing the topic for flimsy reasons, so I reluctantly agreed and registered another subject.
Years passed, and I became the head of the Arabic Department and then responsible for postgraduate studies at the college for several years. I kept the six manuscripts of Al-Majeed that I had obtained, and I published in 1988 in Al-Mawrid magazine an introduction to the book, along with the investigation of the Basmala and Al-Fatiha from it. I followed that by distributing the book to five postgraduate students, supervising some of them, and kept for myself the section containing the parsing of the thirtieth part of the Qur'an, which begins with Surah An-Naba and ends with Surah An-Nas, known as Juz 'Am.
After completing the investigation of this part, my students who love knowledge requested that I include in it what I published of Al-Majeed in Al-Mawrid magazine, which is the book's introduction, the parsing of the Basmala, and Surah Al-Fatiha, because the author explained his methodology in this section. I fulfilled their request and kept it with the sources of its investigation as published, without any change.
Today, I emphasize the necessity of publishing this book in its entirety because it is one of the valuable books that must be issued. Perhaps the University of Sharjah is more deserving than others in this noble matter, especially after its new direction toward publishing and reviving Arab-Islamic heritage books.
I ask Allah to grant me sincerity in speech and action, and to keep me away from deviation and slip, for He is the best Lord and the best Helper.
