It is among the most beneficial works written for beginners in this science. It was authored by the scholar Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali bin Muhammad Al-Hassan Al-Rahbi Al-Shafi’i, known as Ibn Al-Mutqan, who died in the year 557 AH – may Allah have mercy on him. It was explained by Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Muhammad bin Qasim – may Allah have mercy on him. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim bin Qasim, may Allah preserve him, said in his book "The Guide to Scientific Texts": "Al-Rahbiya" by Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali bin Muhammad Al-Hassan Al-Rahbi Al-Shafi’i, known as Ibn Al-Mutqan, and Al-Rahbiya is attributed to Rihbah Malik bin Tawk, who died in the year 557 AH – may Allah have mercy on him. The text of Al-Rahbiya is a poetic composition of 175 verses in the Rajas meter, with the rhythm "Mustaf'ilan" six times. It is among the most beneficial works written for beginners in this science, as stated by Al-Shanshuri in Al-Durra Al-Mudi'a. However, the author – may Allah have mercy on him – did not mention in his poem what relates to the chapters of rejection and inheritance of the relatives of the wombs, based on the Shafi’i school of thought, which does not recognize rejection or inheritance among relatives of the wombs. Therefore, Sheikh Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Khalifi, who died in 1381 AH – may Allah have mercy on him – composed that in 11 verses. Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Muhammad bin Qasim mentioned and commented on these in his notes on Al-Rahbiya. Additionally, Sheikh Waleed bin Idris bin Abdulaziz Muneisi composed that in 64 verses and explained it in 24 pages, which remain manuscript until now. The notes on Al-Rahbiya in the science of inheritance by Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Muhammad bin Qasim, who died in 1392 AH – may Allah have mercy on him – were printed at the Umm Al-Qura printing house in Mecca in 1357 AH, in 88 pages, and have been reprinted several times, including the fifth edition in 1410 AH, in 90 pages. This commentary is distinguished by mentioning the poetic composition related to the chapters of rejection and inheritance of the relatives of the wombs by Sheikh Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Khalifi, as previously mentioned.
