Authorship Safwat Abdul Fattah Mahmoud Introduction Self-introduction Praise be to Allah, we praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and from the bad of our deeds. Whom Allah guides, there is no misleader for him, and whom He misleads, there is no guide for him. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. As for what follows: O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims. O mankind, fear your Lord who created you from a single soul, and created from it its mate, and dispersed from both many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever Watchful over you. O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words that are straight. He will amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, then indeed he has achieved a great achievement. And after: Allah, the Most High, did not create His creation aimlessly or in vain, but made them a subject of obligation and a place for commands and prohibitions. He divided them into two groups: the miserable and the happy. Allah, the Most High, said: As for those who are miserable, they will be in the Fire, sighing and crying therein. They will dwell therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord wills. Indeed, your Lord is Doer of what He wills. And as for those who are happy, they will be in Paradise, dwelling therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord wills. A gift that you will find beyond measure. And since misery and happiness result from obedience and disobedience, I chose this topic: "Obedience and Disobedience in Light of the Book and the Sunnah," to be a comprehensive and inclusive book — God willing — on this important subject. As is clear from the title, the book is divided into two sections: obedience and disobedience. I have made for obedience several chapters and explanations, including: the chapter on Allah’s saying: obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you; absolute obedience to Allah and His Messenger; the obligation to follow what He has legislated without following what Allah mentioned about worldly life based on opinion; the effect of this obedience on the life of the individual and the nation; and the promise of Allah to the obedient of empowerment on earth; and finally — in this section — what Allah has prepared for the obedient in the Hereafter. As for the second section: disobedience, it includes: the first schemes of Satan against Adam and Eve; Satan beautifies disobedience for man and then disowns him; the chapter on Allah’s saying: Whatever good befalls you is from Allah... (verse); the chapter on: Fire is veiled by desires and Paradise by hardships; the danger of disobedience to the heart; the effect of disobedience on the life of the individual and the nation; and warnings against disobedience to Allah and His Messenger... among other topics outlined in the book's index. Finally, I say: this is my humble effort. If I have succeeded, it is from Allah, to Him be praise and thanks. And if I have erred, it is from me and Satan. I ask Allah for forgiveness. May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, his family, and his companions altogether. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Written by Safwat Abdul Fattah Mahmoud Hilal, Egypt.
