Introduction of the Book
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and companions, and may peace be upon them abundantly.
After:
Indeed, Allah the Exalted, among this nation, has favored them over all other nations and servants by granting them the chain of narration, through which the authentic is distinguished from the weak, and the crooked from the straight.
And knowledge of Hadith is among the most noble of sciences, and its highest rank is one that only a truthful person can accept, and only an infidel rejects.
No one is honored after memorizing the revelation except in proportion to what they memorize of it, and no one’s esteem in hearts increases except according to what they hear from it.
Therefore, desires for it increased, and ambitions to learn it intensified, until they traveled the numerous stages, expended wealth and resources, crossed deserts in pursuit of it, and traveled east and west because of it.
They documented it and recorded it in writing, practiced notebooks, and accompanied pens, and pondered in organizing its benefits, spending their lives acquiring it, and immersed day and night in copying it.
They produced numerous manuscripts, and their copies became widespread, and scholars took them as models, and workers set them as a direction.
Allah rewarded them for their praiseworthy effort with the best reward that He has given to the scholars of a nation and the rabbis of a sect.
Among these eminent imams — who dedicated their lives to collecting the Prophetic Sunnah, traveled the lands, and settled in the deserts — is Abu ‘Awana Ya’qub ibn Ishaq ibn Yazid Al-Isfarabini (d. 316 AH).
He authored his great book:
Al-Musnad As-Sahih Al-Mukharraj ‘ala Sahih Muslim ibn Al-Hajjaj,
He excelled in it, benefited, and it was relied upon by the imams and memorizers.
It is one of the books of the "Ilhaaf al-Maharah" series, containing the benefits extracted from the edges of the ten.
Regarding the conclusion of the memorizers, Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, who states in his introduction:
"And these compilations rarely omit anything from the authentic hadiths, especially in rulings, when they are combined with the edges of Al-Mizzi."
I have studied the men of its chains, extracted the men who have not been translated in Al-Tahdhib, whether they are from his elders or those above him, then I translated them in this book, which is the sixth in the second collection of the series "Introduction of the Narrators of the Sunnah in front of the Ummah," titled:
"Enhancement of the Noble with Biographies of those not in Al-Tahdhib from the men of the "Ilhaaf al-Maharah" books,"
and I named it:
"Clarification of the biographies of the men of the extracted Abu ‘Awana."
I also included in front of this book three chapters:
First: Scientific insights —
- An overview of the sources I relied on.
- An overview of the narrators of references.
- An overview of the genealogies defined.
- An overview of those for whom no biography has been found.
- The brief biography of those translated.
Second: Assistance with biographical indexes of Abu ‘Awana.
