The book of Shariah was authored by Imam Al-Ajri who died in the year 360 AH. One of the reasons for Imam Al-Ajri’s writing of this book was the spread of innovations and desires in his era, and the emergence of misguided sects opposing Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, until these groups confused many people about their religion, and caused doubts about their core beliefs. They began to stir doubts and argue with allegorical texts. Imam Al-Ajri wrote this book out of zeal for the religion and pure correct belief, where Imam Al-Ajri said about the reason for his writing this book: "I have outlined in this book – and it is the book of Shariah – from its beginning to its end, what I know that all who are encompassed by Islam need to know because of the corruption of many people's doctrines, and because many misguided desires and innovations have appeared. I do not know of any righteous people whose souls are strengthened by it, and it is a deterrent for the people of innovation and misguidance, according to what Allah, the Almighty, has taught me. So praise be to Allah for that."
The book (Shariah) covers most issues of Islamic creed according to the methodology of the righteous predecessors, and also addresses responses to the people of innovations and misguided sects.
