Indeed, all praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves. Whom Allah guides, there is no misleader for him; and whom He misguides, there is no guide for him. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, His trustworthy on His Revelation, His chosen among His creation, and His envoy between Him and His servants, sent with the upright religion and straight methodology. Allah sent him as mercy to the worlds, as an Imam for the righteous, and as proof against all creatures. (1)
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims. [Al-Imran: 102] O mankind, fear your Lord who created you from a single soul, and created from it its mate, and dispersed from both many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever Watchful over you. [An-Nisa: 1] O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. He will amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great victory. [Al-Ahzab: 70-71]
After this:
I praise Allah, first and last, outward and inward, for the completion of this great book, "The Collection of Knowledge and Wisdom in Explaining Fifty Hadiths from the Most Comprehensive Words." This important book explains the most essential hadiths that a Muslim needs; they are comprehensive hadiths concerning the fundamentals of religion.
The book has been printed in many editions (3), and several distinguished scholars specializing in this matter have taken care of it. I wished to share with them in a distinguished edition, hoping from Allah that it benefits me on the Day of Judgment and the Day when neither wealth nor children will benefit except those who come to Allah with a sound heart. [Ash-Shu'ara: 88-89]
I have verified the book based on a manuscript from a later era, which was owned by a virtuous scholar. I endeavored to accurately transcribe the text from the manuscript, benefiting from the printed editions and referring to the sources of the compiler from the noble books of Sunnah.
As for the grading of the hadiths, I paid special attention to judging their authenticity. Regarding the two Sahihs, I referred to Sahih Al-Bukhari by volume and page number according to the Emirate edition, then added the hadith number from Fath Al-Bari by Muhammad Fuad Abdul-Baqi. I also referred to Sahih Muslim by volume and page for the Istanbul edition, then added the hadith number from Muhammad Fuad Abdul-Baqi’s edition, due to the widespread circulation of these editions.
As for the commentary on the hadiths, I explained some of the unfamiliar words not mentioned by the author, and I commented on some matters that a Muslim needs in his life and worship. Most of this was based on the books of scholars, and I judged the hadiths according to their appropriate status of authenticity or weakness. I also introduced the book with a brief preface called: "Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab and a Glimpse of His Noble Biography."
This verified edition has been printed in several editions, and this edition is published by Dar Ibn Al-Jawzi.
And our last supplication is praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds, and prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, his companions, and those who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment.
