The interpretation of son of Abi Hatim (327 AH) may Allah have mercy on him is the best example of interpretation by tradition, which prompted many who came after him to compile in interpretation by tradition to quote from it and benefit, such as Al-Baghawi and Ibn Kathir, even Al-Suyuti says in his interpretation: I summarized the interpretation of son of Abi Hatim in my books.
And those who read the introduction of the author to this book find that he has clearly explained his methodology in it, and we can summarize it as follows:
It combines within its pages the interpretation of the Quran by the Sunnah and the sayings of the Companions and Tabi‘un.
If the interpretation is found from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, he does not mention anything that came from the Companions in interpreting the verse.
If he does not find the interpretation from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and finds it narrated from the Companions and they agreed on this method of tafsir; he mentions the highest of them with the authentic chains, then names those who agree with them without chains, and if there is a difference in interpretation, he mentions the disagreement with chains, and names those who agree with them while omitting their chains.
If he does not find the interpretation from the Companions and finds it from the Tabi‘un, he acts similarly to how he acts in the interpretation of the Companions.
The interpretation is narrated with the most authentic reports, and the book contains narrations that are not found elsewhere, preserving many lost interpretations, such as the interpretation of Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, Mughairah ibn Mughairah, and others.
