Faisal I journeys and history
This book in our hands is considered an important historical record of the history of King Faisal I, who ruled Iraq between the years 1921 and 1933. He was the third son of Hussein bin Ali, Sharif of Mecca, who led the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire in 1916. The great writer and poet Amin Rihani, who was an eyewitness to this historical period, took care to record in this book everything he saw and heard about the emergence of Faisal I, his education, his personality, and to depict in his wonderful literary style all the hopes, dreams, and feelings he carried in his heart, as well as his politics, journeys, and his struggle to achieve Arab unity that includes all Arab countries. It also includes details about the king’s relationship with Britain and France.
A journalistic interview conducted by the Saudi media figure and literary critic Mohammed Rida Nasrallah with Amin Albert Rihani’s nephew, in Rihani House in Antelias, Lebanon, in 2002. This interview holds exceptional historical significance, as it sheds light on Rihani’s journeys to the Arabian Peninsula and the circumstances of writing this valuable travelogue, from the perspective of a close family member.
