The means of those who desire and the wish of those who benefit
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon the trustworthy Messenger, the one who commands learning the shares and teaching them to the believers, and upon his family and companions who clarified knowledge and religion... As for what follows,
This is the small explanation of the poem "Al-Wasila Al-Raghibin" (The Means of Those Who Desire) and "Al-Wasila Al-Mustafeedin" (The Wish of Those Who Benefit), by the Sheikh, the jurist, the obligatory, Al-Hisab Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Salloum Al-Tamimi, Hanbali.
This book is considered an explanation of a poem in inheritance called "Al-Qalaid Al-Burhaniya" (The Burhaniya Necklaces), consisting of 112 lines in the Rajas meter; by Sheikh Muhammad ibn Hajjazi Al-Shafi’i, known as Ibn Burhan.
The book was printed at the Muhammadiyah Year Printing House, with correction and commentary by its owner, Sheikh Muhammad ibn Hamid Al-Faqih, may Allah make him blessed, in the year 1365 AH, in a fine volume of 72 pages, then printed at Al-Rushd Library in Riyadh, in the year 1419 AH, in 94 pages.
As the poet said at the end: with a hundred like the necklaces of pearls, and its verses have become twelve.
The author of the Dictionary of Authors (p. 210) states in his biography: Muhammad ibn Hajjazi ibn Muhammad Al-Halabi Al-Shafi’i, known as Ibn Burhan, was born in 1141 AH. He was a jurist, usulist, Faqih, grammarian, morphologist, dialectician, and poet.
Among his works: a poem in inheritance called "Al-Aqood Al-Burhaniya" (The Burhani Contracts).
He died in 1205 AH.
See his biography in "I’lam Al-Nubala" by Al-Tabaakh (129/7).
It contains many omissions and printing errors, and I have exerted effort to produce this explanation in a suitable form, God willing, and I have been keen to ensure it matches what its author wrote, free from deficiency, distortion, misreading, addition, and printing mistakes.
I ask Allah to bless this work, to make it sincere for His face, and to reward generously the author of the poem and the explanation, and to do good to them for what they have presented.
All praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
