To the حافظ جلال الدين السيوطي Pen of عبد الله العبيد Introduction to the project of أصولِ العِلْمِ Praise be to الله, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon the master of the first and the last, and upon his family, companions, and followers. As for after: This is a noble project, which I named: أصول العِلْم (Foundations of Knowledge), the purpose of which is to bring closer the roots of knowledge from the lengthy books, which are a door for those serious about acquiring Islamic sciences, and a solid introduction for those wishing to ascend to the heights of goodness. I aimed it at the middle carriers of knowledge — from callers, students, doctors, and engineers. The motivation for it was that the extensive and lengthy texts are abandoned due to their length and because people are preoccupied with other matters besides knowledge in our time. So I summarized them and added useful notes on them. I have taken care in the summarization not to compromise the overall goals of their authors in terms of meanings; otherwise, the words must be greatly reduced and arranged among themselves to make them more accessible to the beneficiary. I benefited from most of the printed materials, with reference to the manuscripts to verify the accuracy of their texts if necessary. May الله reward well those who were the cause of bringing this project to light, and make our deeds sincere for His noble face, and accept from us. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
