Introduction
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And after:
The hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah— the most comprehensive hadith regarding the description of the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم pilgrimage— is a fundamental reference in the description of Hajj rituals. In addition, it contains benefits and general rules.
Al-Qadi Iyad said: People have spoken extensively about its jurisprudence, and most have elaborated on it. Abu Bakr ibn Al-Mundhir authored a large part of it (1), and he classified over fifty types (2). And more than a hundred types of jurisprudence. Al-Qurtubi said: The hadith of Jabir, Allah be pleased with him, contains many rulings and chapters of jurisprudence, which the imams have extracted, compiled, and numbered— reaching nearly one hundred and fifty (3) rulings. If one traces it, more than that can be found...
Al-Nawawi said: It is a great hadith, encompassing a number of benefits and precious important rules (1).
And Sheikh Abdul Rahman ibn Nasser Al-Sa’di mentioned this hadith in "Manhaj As-Salikīn" (The Path of the Seekers). During my explanation of the book, it was not appropriate to include in my commentary on the explanation of the book of Hajj matters and benefits that are unrelated to the subject. So, I decided to limit my explanation of the hadith in "Manhaj As-Salikīn" to matters related to Hajj, and I will explain the hadith as a separate commentary, focusing on its most important issues and mentioning the benefits that became clear to me. I sought help from Allah, explained it, then left it for years. I revisited it several times, adding and subtracting from it.
I divided it into twenty-seven chapters, and at the end of each chapter— which contains a part of the hadith— I included a section in which I mentioned the derived benefits from the hadith. I named it: "Reminding the pilgrim of the benefits— a collection of the most comprehensive hadiths on the rites of Hajj." I ask Allah to benefit me through it, to place it in the balance of my good deeds, to benefit those who read it, and to make it a means for them to follow the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in his Hajj and Umrah.
