Dr. Abdulmohsen Abdulaziz Alaskar Introduction Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, Owner of the Day of Recompense. I send peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, the Hashemite Prophet, Master of the Children of Adam. Allah revealed His clear Book upon him and made it a proof for the worlds. O Allah, send blessings, peace, and blessings upon Your servant and Messenger, Muhammad, and be pleased with all his companions, and the followers who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment. To proceed: Indeed, Allah commanded His believing servants to ponder His great Book, as He said: "A Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, so that they may ponder its verses, and that those of understanding may be reminded." (29:29) And Allah the Most High said: "Do they not then reflect on the Qur'an? Or are there locks upon their hearts?" (Muhammad: 24) Pondering the Qur'an is among the greatest reasons for attaining happiness in this world and the Hereafter. Leaving aside pondering is a great deprivation and loss. And true is Ibn Al-Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him - when he said in his book *Bada'i' Al-Fawa'id*: "How great is the regret, and how immense is the loss, for those who spend their time seeking knowledge, then leave this world without understanding the realities of the Qur'an or experiencing its secrets and meanings in their hearts." (1) Understanding the realities of the Qur'an can only be achieved through pondering. Among the great surahs of the Qur'an is Surah Al-Baqarah, which the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "It took it as a blessing, and leaving it is a regret, and the magicians cannot do it." (2) It is the greatest surah in the Qur'an, as narrated from Ibn Mas'ud, who said: "Every thing has a peak, and the peak of the Qur'an is Surah Al-Baqarah. And every thing has a door, and the door of the Qur'an is Al-Mufassal." (3) This surah contains many Islamic rulings, including: Fasting the month of Ramadan. There is no doubt that fasting it is a divine obligation and one of the pillars of Islam. Its fast is established by the Book, the Sunnah, and consensus. In this book, there is an attempt to ponder the verses about fasting in Surah Al-Baqarah. We ask Allah to open for us the gates of goodness, to grant us success and guidance in what we face of matters. Indeed, He is near, responsive. My success is only by Allah. I rely on Him and turn to Him in repentance. Written by Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Alaskar
