By Dr. Muhammad Musa Nasr In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Introduction to the third edition All praise be to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and ask His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide; and whomsoever He misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. After: This is the introduction to the third edition of my book "Virtues of the Noble Qur'an in the Book, the Sunnah, and the Effects of the Salaf." I present it to dear readers after the previous edition has been exhausted or nearly so. It is published anew by Dar Ibn al-Jawzi with a new and refined connection. As the reader will notice, this edition contains additions, corrections, and revisions. For knowledge, this book is among my first scientific works. It was a research paper I submitted in the fourth year of graduation from the College of the Noble Qur'an in Medina. I have good memories associated with it. The index of topics was accidentally omitted from the second edition but has been included in this third edition. For the record, I say that the rights of this book—material and commercial—are reserved for Dar Ibn al-Jawzi in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for printing, publishing, and distribution. No one else has the right to it except with their permission. May Allah reward the brother Saad al-Samail, owner of Dar Ibn al-Jawzi, for his efforts in preparing this edition and his interest in publishing the sciences of the Qur'an and the Sunnah issued by Dar Ibn al-Jawzi. I ask Allah Almighty to accept this work from us with good acceptance and to make it purely for His face on the Day we meet Him. He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. Our last supplication is praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
