He added to the explanation of the Musnad and the Mursal, and explanations of the sayings of the Companions and the Tabi‘un, arranged it by chapters of Al-Muwatta', and omitted repetitions of evidences and routes, clarified the statement of Malik bin Anas and the principles built upon his sayings from the people of Medina, as well as every statement mentioned for other scholars of the regions. The book became comprehensive, adhering to the condition of brevity and conciseness, and he based his book on the narration of Yahya bin Yahya. He did not single out any discussion on the virtues of Malik, being sufficient with what he mentioned and explained in Tamhid, which contains the meanings and chains of narration in Al-Muwatta'.
