The Comprehensive Blog 1-6 Muhammad Taqi Al-Othmani Dar Al-Qalam Syria The Comprehensive Blog of Narrated Hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ | Dar Al-Uloom University The writing of Hadith is the act of documenting and recording what was narrated from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in words, actions, or approvals, which Muslims have given great importance to as it is the second source of Islamic legislation. The process of documenting Hadith went through several stages, beginning effectively in the second century of Hijra, when the first steps of writing Hadith started after it had been limited to oral transmission. Over time, the matter developed, moving from the stage of mere collection to classification and arrangement, sometimes according to jurisprudential topics and other times arranged by the narrators, even if the subjects differed. Then, as time passed, the types of Hadith books expanded to include Muwatta, collections, Musnad, Sunan, Jami, Mustadrak, and Mustakhraj. The actual process of documenting Hadith ceased by the fifth century of Hijra, after which Hadith scholars moved to another stage, which is the stage of criticizing Hadith in terms of the chain of narration and content, thus establishing the science of Hadith terminology.
